Marques Brownlee’s aka MKBHD’s main takeaway on the latest iPad Pro:

Since it’s also Apple-designed silicon, it would be tempting to think maybe that’s not that big of a jump. Those chips were made for the iPad, how good could M1 be? Uh… that’d be wrong.

This is a massive performance leap forward.

Overall though, the one thing that has stood out in the reviews of the M1 iPad Pro is not about the hardware, but about how nearly everyone is ragging on the software. And in fact, because the hardware is so good, there seems to be an extra level of frustration that iPad OS is so constrained.

It’s almost like all the reviewers coordinated to make this point. Maybe they all know of something coming at WWDC in a couple weeks? Or maybe they just want to pressure Apple into doing something about this?¹ Or maybe they’re just all really feeling this pain point! Regardless, it has to be pretty jarring for Apple to read/hear this negativity over and over again though in all of these reviews
